Suicide Prevention |
Sources of Strength: Sources of Strength is a comprehensive prevention and wellness program that works to use peer leaders to change norms around codes of silence. The program is designed to increase help seeking behaviors and build connections between peers and caring adults or mentors. Sources of Strength is a true preventative program that aims to build multiple sources of support around individuals now, so that when times get tough they have strengths to rely on. Yellowstone Behavioral Health Center and the Park County Suicide Prevention Coalition teamed up and started Sources of Strength with Cody High School and Northwest College last year. Both received strong support and want to continue this program this year. |
Drug Disposal Campaign: The Suicide Prevention Coalition decided to focus on this means-restriction campaign. Tim Seeley, Director of Pharmacies and a Coalition members, contacted all Park County Pharmacies. The goal is to educate the public on drug disposal and the pharmacies - who agreed to put bookmarks in each prescription describing a safe way to dispose of unused and unwanted drugs. The bookmarks also describe the "Take Back Program" that the Powell Police Department does every day of the year. We have distributed 5000 of these bookmarks since August 2011. |
