The Prevention and Wellness Department receives funds to work on the misuse of alcohol among all ages in Park County. We support Cody High School with an onsite counselor; support efforts by Park County law enforcement agencies regarding underage drinking violations; support Cody, Powell, and the County to have guidelines for public policies on alcohol; support the adaptation of BASE to create a brief intervention for repeat-offenders of alcohol violations that will be accessible and utilized by the courts, and work to reduce high risk drinking at Northwest College. Also, we have developed a comprehensive strategy to reduce marijuana use and prescription drug abuse among Park County youth and adults. Additionally, we partner with Yellowstone Behavioral Health Center, the recipient of the county's suicide prevention grant, to implement mental health screening, and support efforts of changing community norms around mental health and treatment. Finally, we continue to support media work to clarify substance use norms and reduce risks associated with alcohol at the community and school level.  Our work is data driven, using evidence-based strategies and is rooted in conversations.
