Our 25-bed, acute care facility is state-of the-art. We also have an adjacent 128-bed long term care center and a 20-bed chemical dependency center.

  Planetree is all about people caring for people. At WPH, we provide friendly, nurturing, compassionate and personalized care. We have also created a culture that is supportive and nurturing for the staff. We want our employees to care for and support one another because increased staff satisfaction means less employee turnover, which is good for the patients. The new day care, the Seedlings Center, and various staff celebrations are examples of how we are supporting our staff.
  
  
• Architectural & Interior Design Conducive to Health and Healing
  The physical environment is vital to the healing process. The Planetree philosophy emphasizes warm, home-like, non-institutional designs and efficient layouts that promote patient privacy and control. At WPH, our patient rooms are designed with pleasing colors and styles that will help our patients feel at home. We’ve also added comfortable overnight sleeping accommodations for family members and family lounges equipped with refrigerators and microwaves.

• The Importance of the Nutritional and Nurturing Aspects of Food
  Planetree recognizes nutrition as an integral part of health and healing. Good food is essential not only for good health, but as a source of pleasure, comfort and familiarity. WPH has recently introduced new menu selections and strives to accommodate special requests when possible. Care partners may also receive meals while they are assisting their loved one in the hospital.

• Empowering Patients through Information and Education
  At WPH, we encourage the patient to be a partner in their health-care decisions. Patients entering for hip or knee replacements are offered a preoperative education program so they understand exactly what their surgery will entail and what to expect after surgery. Inpatients are provided a personalized book to sort and save their medical information. In October 2008, WPH and the Park County Library System partnered to provide consumers with the necessary resources required for making quality, informed decisions about their health.

• The Importance of Family, Friends and Social Support
  Involving family members/caregivers in the healing process and promoting their social support is vital to good health. At WPH, we provide education and training for family members so they can help their loved one while the patient is in the hospital and after the patient goes home. We also encourage family members to become involved in patient care by offering unrestricted visiting hours. A family room with computer access, DVDs, a flat-screen television and a full kitchen are available so family members can remain close to their loved one but also provide an area where they can relax if needed.

• Spirituality: The Importance of Inner Resources
  Planetree recognizes the vital role of spirituality in healing the whole person. WPH offers patients the opportunity to visit with a volunteer staff of chaplains who are seen as vital members of the health-care team. We also offer a chapel to provide opportunities for reflection and prayer.
  
  
• The Importance of Human Touch
  Planetree recognizes that touch is essential to reduce anxiety and communicate caring. WPH offers massage for patients, their families and the staff.

• Healing Arts: Nutrition for the Soul
  Music creates an atmosphere of serenity in a hospital, and art adds to the ambiance. WPH offers patients the opportunity to listen to calming music on CDs. Local juried artists volunteer their incredible artwork for displays throughout the facility.

• Complementary Therapies
  The use of complementary and alternative medical (CAM) therapies have increased substantially in our country in the past decade. A growing number of patients desire treatment options that complement their traditional medical care. WPH offers therapeutic full-body massage, pet therapy and healing touch.

• Healthy Communities
  Planetree recognizes the benefits of expanding the boundaries of health care to the community. For this reason WPH:
  • Partners with local schools to provide substance-abuse prevention and counseling
  • Provides HealthCheck screening five days a week rather than once a year
  • Provides community education on a number of health issues
