Hospice

Spirit Mountain Hospice is proud to have served the Big Horn Basin since 1994, providing in-home care and inpatient comfort care to patients and families facing end-of-life issues. When curative measures are no longer an option, hospice provides physical, emotional and spiritual support. West Park Hospital Home Health provides care for patients in the home setting within a defined service area, including Cody, Powell, Meeteetse, Burlington and Ralston. Spirit Mountain Hospice House is the only inpatient hospice facility in the Big Horn Basin area.

Hospice provides care through an interdisciplinary approach to support patients and their families. House staff includes:

  • Registered nurses
  • Aides
  • Physicians
  • Medical social workers
  • Occupational, physical and speech therapists
  • Volunteers

Services include:

The West Park Hospital Foundation provides fundraising efforts to assist families via the Tree of Lovelights Ceremony, brick campaign and others. Learn how to donate to hospice.

Spirit Mountain Hospice House

Spirit Mountain Hospice House is the only facility of its kind in the Big Horn Basin area. Opened in 2011, the facility has eight private rooms plus a large family room and kitchen. All of the above-mentioned staff complement the care at the Hospice House facility.

Spiritual care

Spiritual care is a component of the hospice philosophy of providing care for the entire individual.

Hospice provides professional and volunteer clergy who have training in the area of death and dying and who are sensitive to the many forms of religious expression.

Hospice spiritual counselors are available to hospice patients and their families, but spiritual care is not a required component of the hospice program; hospice patients and their family members can opt out of the spiritual care offerings.

Rev. Dr. Randy Leisey and Deacon Joe Bush make regular visits to hospice patients, and they can also put clergy from the community in touch with Spirit Mountain Hospice patients if specific clergy persons are requested.
