Cody Regional Health Physical Rehab Department Introduces Innovative Therapy Program for Parkinson’s Patients

Cody Regional Health (CRH) is pleased to announce the launch of an intensive physical therapy program aimed at improving mobility and enhancing the quality of life for individuals with Parkinson’s disease.

Research on LSVT BIG, the innovative therapy program, has demonstrated remarkable improvements in mobility, balance, and overall functional abilities. Patients undergoing LSVT BIG therapy have reported:

  • Faster walking with larger steps
  • Enhanced balance and reduced risk of falling
  • Increased trunk rotation
  • Improved performance in activities of daily living such as bed mobility
  • Enhanced motor skills and multi-tasking capabilities during walking

LSVT BIG is a standardized treatment protocol that is tailored to the specific goals and needs of each individual. Cody Regional Health’s certified physical therapists administer the therapy, ensuring personalized care and attention to detail.

The key components of LSVT BIG therapy include:

  1. Large amplitude exercises targeting the entire body
  2. Personalized functional skills practice
  3. 16 sessions conducted over 4 consecutive days a week for 4 weeks
  4. 60-minute one-on-one therapy sessions
  5. Daily home exercise practice

“It is essential that LSVT BIG treatment is only delivered by physical and/or occupational therapists who are certified in this method,” stated Heidi Mayton, Director at CRH Rehab Services Department. “We are committed to providing high-quality care to our patients and ensuring optimal outcomes.”

Individuals interested in learning more about LSVT BIG therapy and its benefits are encouraged to contact the CRH Rehab Services Department at (307) 578-2452.
